Trade lane

Europe to the CIS — from a European supplier to your warehouse

We run the whole supply: supplier, purchase, route, customs, delivery. What the cargo is and whether the shipment is permissible we establish at the brief, before we take the job.

A four-point corridor. MILAN is the departure hub in Europe. FRANKFURT is where consignments from several suppliers come together. WARSAW is the leg before the eastern border. MOSCOW is the arrival hub in the CIS. The lane runs by road or by rail.

01 — The full cycle

On this lane the work starts long before the truck does

Transport is the fifth item of seven. The four before it are where shipments usually come apart.

  1. 01Compliance check on the shipmentWe establish what the goods are, where and to whom they are going, who the parties are and which route they would take. If the shipment cannot lawfully proceed, you hear it at the brief — before any contract and before any payment.
  2. 02Finding a supplier in EuropeWhere you have no supplier yet, we shortlist manufacturers and distributors against your product, volume and budget, and compare the commercial terms.
  3. 03Supplier verificationCompany records, production, samples, the real price and the shipping terms — checked before the money moves.
  4. 04Purchasing on your behalfNegotiation, contract, payment, inspection of the consignment before dispatch. If you do not trade across borders yourself, we buy the goods in our own name.
  5. 05Route and transportCollection at the supplier’s warehouse, consolidation in FRANKFURT, the run through WARSAW to MOSCOW. You hear about a deviation from us, not from a tracking page.
  6. 06Customs on both sidesExport clearance in Europe and import clearance in the country of destination: classification, permits and licences, declaration.
  7. 07Delivery to the warehouseWe take the consignment to the agreed unloading address, record its condition and close the supply on paper.

02 — The job

What clients bring to this lane

  • We have the European supplier — organise the purchase and the delivery.
  • First tell us whether these goods can be shipped at all.
  • We tried it ourselves and got stuck on the paperwork.
  • We found the goods but we are not set up to import.
  • We want one contract covering purchase, transport and clearance.

03 — Modes

Two ways that work on this lane

  • RoadThe mainstay of the lane. Collects at the supplier’s warehouse and delivers to the unloading address with no transhipment. Takes a single pallet in a groupage load or a full truck.
  • RailFor heavy and high-volume consignments, and when road crossings are queueing. It adds a transhipment at each end, so the packaging has to survive one.

04 — Questions

What European suppliers ask first

  • Will you carry any goods on this lane?

No. Before we take a job we check the goods, their end use, the parties to the transaction and the route against the rules in force on both sides of the border. Some shipments cannot proceed; others need permits and confirmations. You get the answer at the brief, before any contract and before any payment. If the shipment is not permissible, we decline the job and tell you why.

  • Who acts as the importer?

Two ways round it. If you hold a foreign trade contract and are prepared to import, we move the goods under your contract and run the purchase, the route and the clearance. If you are not set up for it, we buy the goods in our own name — a separate service, purchasing on your behalf.

  • Why are there no transit times on this page?

Because we do not yet have an honest figure. Transit here depends on when the supplier is ready, on the queue at the crossing and on clearance, and it shifts from load to load. We quote the time for your consignment together with the route, and then we hold to it. An average printed on a web page would tell you nothing.

  • We already ship this ourselves. What do you add?

We close the supply, not the trip: the compliance check, the contract with the supplier, the payment, the route, the customs and the delivery, with one manager and one contract. If your chain already works and the only open question is a truck, what you need is a haulier, not us — and we will say so.

Tell us what the goods are and where they start

Describe the product, the supplier and the delivery address. We check whether the shipment is permissible and come back with a route and a cost estimate.
